Best Things To Do for Your Skin

Transform Your Skin with 6 Simple Everyday Habits

Best things to do for your skin. Simple habits are the best instead of too many skincare products

So many people neglect the simple habits that you can do every day to improve and achieve glowing skin, relying on a multitude of products when in reality… you don’t need that many! According to Mayo Clinic, healthy life style choices are an important factor for preventing skin issues and early aging. Here are my tips, tried and tested by me, that gave me the confidence I want to share with you… so you can feel confident with or without makeup.

1. Eating a Balanced Diet

I know everyone says that, but please don’t neglect it. You must understand that you are what you eat, as harsh as it sounds. If you binge on junk food every day, your skin is not going to love you. Now, I know there are people who can do this and still appear to have no skin problems, but trust me, they will suffer from health problems later on. I wasn’t one of these “lucky” people; my skin broke out, and I got all sorts of pimples on my face when I ate too much sugar and carbs. However, once I decided to start eating nutritious whole foods as part of my diet, my skin cleared up, and friends noticed a conspicuous glow and shine on my face.

So here’s my tip for you: start small. Eat some vegetables and greens before reaching for an unhealthy snack or treat. Then gradually swap out those unhealthy foods for healthier alternatives. Nowadays, there are more healthy food options than ever, but please read the ingredients before purchasing. Even better, make them yourself! Trust me, you will save a lot of money and won’t have to constantly be at the shops. Let me know if you’d like me to post recipes for my self-made treats on Pinterest!

2. Develop Time for Yourself Every Day

In our fast-paced, overly demanding society, taking a simple 10-15 minutes just to reflect on our day and meditate is often neglected. I’m not saying technology and fast access to almost everything is bad; what I’m saying is that we’re throwing away an important aspect of our daily lives: the need to reflect and not do something important every moment of our days. I used to be like this, taking on so many activities, working, and balancing it with school. It didn’t help my mental health and certainly not my skin. Your skin does not like stress! So do yourself a favor and make a habit of stopping at one moment in your day just to breathe and not think of the next thing you need to do. Maybe you can look out the window and be mindful of what’s around you. I simply meditate and say a one-word mantra. It’s extremely hard to do this, but it gives you the most beautiful feeling after finishing this mindful self-care.

3. Exercise (It Doesn’t Have to Be the Gym)

I’ll be honest with you: I don’t like exercising. It hurts, and I don’t want to go to the gym because I’m a lazy girlie. However, I make it a point to do some simple hard-core exercises at home like yoga, callisthenics, or something similar. It doesn’t have to be elaborate. It can even just be dancing! That’s my favorite, hehe.

4. Get That Sleep

We all know how important this is, yet I know so many people who tell me, “Oh yeah, I just got a few hours of sleep yesterday.” Like, how are you surviving! You can be damaging your health over a long period if you keep that up, so please make the effort to go to bed and get that sleep. Turn off that phone! I don’t care if it’s on night mode; there’s still radiation that can affect your sleep.

5. Walk in Nature (Stress Reliever)

When I feel my skin is icky or I’m so stressed that I want to cry, I go for a walk. Why? Just looking at something different, green, and beautiful can calm your mind, body, and soul. Even if you’re mad, you should do this. It makes you realize the beauty of life and appreciate what you have. I know it sounds dramatic, but seriously, walking has helped me save my sanity from the problems I have with my family. If you are a student, why not try to go on an exchange and experience the beauty of another country whilst making new friends?

6. Be Hygienic, Be Clean

Yes, we’ve all heard it and know it, being clean will definitely give you that beautiful skin you’ve been wanting. Don’t touch your face unless your hands are clean, adopt a simple yet effective skincare routine, change your pillow cover if you can’t sleep with your face towards the ceiling, and brush your teeth, etc. I know it’s a pain, but you know the saying… no pain, no gain!

In Summary

Skincare is not just about what you do on the exterior, but the interior as well, my friends. I wish you to try to adopt these tips in your daily lives as they have truly changed not just my skin health but the overall quality and wellness of my life.
